Virtual Cemetery

*** Here’s some exciting news! ***

Another website effectively compliments this website. Read on!

A “Virtual Cemetery” devoted solely to the 92nd Illinois Volunteer Mounted Infantry has recently been created by jsororke. It is part of Findagrave, yet separated, due to its unique content. (Click here to link to this “Virtual Cemetery”).

For those of you unfamiliar with Findagrave, each page focuses on one particular person, and includes, at least in many cases, a photo of that person’s grave marker. Additional information often includes basic genealogical information, an occasional obituary, and in many cases, a photo of that person.

And the best part:

There are currently over one thousand soldiers from the 92nd Illinois included in this “Virtual Cemetery.” Yet, the cemetery continues to expand. I encourage you to check this site out. See if you can find your ancestor’s very own webpage!

It is well-organized and easy to navigate. It is organized by company. If you know which company your ancestor was in, simply click on that company. You will then find soldiers within that company listed alphabetically. Scroll down. Hopefully you’ll find your ancestor. If so, click on his name. It immediately takes you to his very own Findagrave webpage.

To avoid redundancy, I have not included on my website various genealogical information which is already included in the “Virtual Cemetery.”
