Male Black Undercooks in the 92nd Illinois Volunteer Mounted Infantry
Black undercooks were a vital part of this regiment. They were compensated with pay, rations, and personal items such as clothing. They were listed on muster rolls beneath privates. Regrettably, very little is known about these men. Below are very brief biographies.
